Time to read: 3 Minutes

Ranking Amazon niche sites can be profitable, not only that you get a recurring profit regarding associate commission, but you can also flip successful sites for massive amounts, usually 16-24 months worth of profit.

I will not go into detail how to create a good on-page or anything like that. I’ll leave it for another post.

This time, I will focus on off-page, getting out of sandbox quickly and ultimately how to rank Amazon sites fast.

Recently, one of our clients shared his results how he ranked amazon site in less than two months, you can find it on this facebook thread. He masterfully executed our 4-month ranking plan that we give to all our clients for affiliate sites.

It’s a brand new domain, and this is why I wanted to make a case study, to share the details on how he got out of sandbox so fast and made his way to #1. Let’s break it down and see what he did to achieve this success and how to replicate it.

On-Page and Structure

I just need to stress the importance of this. On Page SEO is hands down the most important factor and usually overlooked. As I said, I will cover on-page and structure in a separate post. It would be a marathon post to write about that here.

Let’s go on and see the timeline of actions that gave him #1 spot.

Week 1 – 2 : Waiting Period and Social Signals

Website Rank: N/A

When your website is live and indexed, you will want to start with some social signals. The best thing would be to make a social fortress (Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, etc) as most sites get these links first. If you are into white-hat, you can share the posts, images, infographics on relevant Facebook, Twitter or Pinterest for more exposure and initial shares/links.

Alternatively, you can buy Facebook shares, retweets, Pinterest pins, etc.
Social signals, along with the traffic and good CTR are the first signal to Google that you have a quality site. You will also want to engage your visitors with high-quality images and videos to lower bounce rate and increase retention time.

Week 3 – 4 : Branding and Press Release

Website Rank:

In Top 100 (When in top 100 it’s a good sign that your site is given a small window where it should “prove” that it’s good enough.

After a foundation of social signals and links, it’s time for some branded links. I would recommend Citations or Press releases. These links will set up a good base for your anchor text profile so only do branding here (naked URL, domain anchors, and brand anchors).

The main thing about Citations and PR is that you need to index them to take effect. You can do that by getting a GSA blast from Peter Rota or Paul Steel and mention that you need to index them, they will take care of that for you. (look up the resources box after this post for info where to get each of these)

Edit October 2016:

You can still use tactical GSA blasts to index your citations and press release, although I now recommend getting them indexed via sitemap trick or Indexer.

You might want to add a bit more social signals either by buying signals/shares or generating it by encouraging shares or sharing on other pages. (your choice of Blackhat vs Whitehat here). Social signals here are proof that your links from Press release or citations are legitimate.

Week 5-8: PBNs / Guest Posts

Website Rank: From Top 100 to #10 and after 2 weeks #1

On brand new sites, you want to start slow and drip your PBNs or guest posts, 1-2 per week and increase the velocity as your site makes it’s way to first page. Every niche is different so just monitor your rank tracker and judge if it’s fine to increase the velocity. Usually, the closer your are to #1 spot, you can go with more links.

Affiliate Site - 2 Month Ranking Prorank

Affiliate Site – 2 Month Ranking Prorank

In week 5-6 there was a big jump that came from a Guest post from a niche site (not a PBN) but you can use your PBNs to simulate this type of guest posts. It gave it a massive jump to position #10 or so fir the next 15 days or so.

During that time, 10 PBN links were dripped (Week 6-8). As you can see, once the PBN links were indexed and picked up by Google it jumped to #2 and it hovered around #1-2 before cementing itself to #1.

As you can see, there was a huge jump in traffic and steady increase in one month period.

This is just an example of how effective this strategy can be if executed right and if you time your links when Google gives you a window of opportunity.

Update October 2016:

Three new silo pages were added to this site (total of around 20000 words of content) and a steady drip of Guest posts and Editorial Posts from Lifehack and Huffingtonpost.

Important thing to remember is that in order to keep your #1 spot you should invest in a white hat campaign instead of just PBNs. We also started with 3-month conversion optimization campaign in mid June 2016 to increase earnings per visitor. Here are some interesting results.

That’s approximately 120% increase in earnings. There is still room to work on this site, like further A/B testing and adding more content. I will update as soon as we have more information about this project.

I will list the resources used in this case, useful information and where you can get specific services.

What is your favorite strategy for getting out of sandbox fast and ranking Amazon sites quickly?
